A New Chapter for Blacksmiths: Welcome to Our Dedicated Forging Store

For many years, AncientSmithy has been known around the world for handcrafted axes, tomahawks, and Viking-inspired collectibles. But behind every forged blade is another craft we care deeply about – blacksmithing itself.

Today, we're excited to announce a new milestone for our company: the launch of a dedicated website focused entirely on blacksmithing tools and equipment called StrictBlacksmith

This new platform was created for the people who stand on the other side of the anvil – the makers who transform raw steel into something extraordinary.

Built Together with a Master Blacksmith

One of the people who made this project possible is Andrii Kachkovskyi, a professional blacksmith whose entire life has revolved around the forge.

Unlike many craftsmen who discover their profession later in life, Andrii was born into it.

His father and brother are blacksmiths. Another brother is a master woodcarver, while his mother specializes in artistic leatherwork. Growing up in a family of artisans meant that creating with your hands wasn't simply a hobby – it was a way of life.

At just 14 years old, Andrii forged his very first knife.

"It wasn't beautiful," he admits, "but it was the moment I realized that you could turn fire, steel, and chaos into a real working tool with your own hands."

And that feeling never left him.

A Craftsman Who Never Stopped Learning

For Andrii, experience alone wasn't enough. He believed true craftsmanship should be supported by science, metallurgy, and engineering.

He studied metal processing at college before spending five years earning a Master's degree in Decorative and Applied Arts. Later, he completed specialized training in heat treatment, focusing on high-carbon steels and the precise temperature control required to create tools that are both hard and resilient.

His philosophy is simple: "A professional hammer is an extension of the blacksmith's hand. If the balance and geometry are right, forging becomes art – not exhausting labor."

That philosophy is reflected in every hammer he designs.

From Teacher to Toolmaker

For years, Andrii balanced life between the forge and the classroom, teaching young blacksmiths at a vocational school while continuing to refine his own techniques.

Passing knowledge to the next generation became just as important as creating tools.
He also participated in blacksmith festivals, competitions, and professional events, where recognition from fellow smiths confirmed that his pursuit of precision and quality was worth the effort.

Today, his hammers are used by blacksmiths around the world. Not because they're decorative. Because they work.

A Story That Began Nearly a Century Ago

Our partnership is also rooted in another remarkable story.

The history of the forge stretches back to 1927, when the great-grandfather of blacksmith Andrii Kachkovskyi began his own craft.

After World War II, private workshops were confiscated under Soviet rule, and many craftsmen lost everything they had built. Before abandoning his workshop, Andrii's great-grandfather buried the one thing he couldn't bear to lose – his anvil.

Wrapped in oil-soaked cloth beneath the floor of his home, it remained hidden for decades.

Years later, after graduating from the Academy of Arts and deciding to build his own forge on that same piece of land, Andrii uncovered the anvil during construction. Against all odds, it had survived.

Even today, that nearly century-old anvil remains one of the most treasured tools in the workshop and continues to forge steel every day.

Two Workshops. One Vision.

For years, our paths developed independently.

Andrii focused on creating professional blacksmithing tools especially hammers and tongs earning the trust of blacksmiths throughout Ukraine.

At the same time, AncientSmithy was introducing handcrafted axes and tomahawks to customers around the world.

Eventually, we realized we shared the same philosophy. Exceptional craftsmanship deserves a global audience.

That partnership became the foundation for what AncientSmithy is today.

Why Create a Separate Blacksmithing Store?

As our community grew, so did the number of blacksmiths joining it.

Many customers weren't looking for collectible axes they were looking for the tools used to create them.

Launching a dedicated website allows us to focus entirely on that audience:

  • Professional hammers
  • Precision tongs
  • Forging accessories
  • Protective equipment

Everything designed by blacksmiths, for blacksmiths.

Looking Forward

This new website isn't the beginning of something new it is the continuation of a story that started generations ago.

A story of family traditions.
Of buried anvils rediscovered decades later.
Of teachers inspiring future craftsmen.
Of partnerships built on shared values.

And above all, of people who believe that the sound of hammer striking hot steel is more than work it's a craft worth preserving.

Whether you're forging your very first project or have spent decades behind the anvil, we're honored to be part of your journey.

Welcome to the next chapter of AncientSmithy and StrictBlacksmith!
